Brake Pedal MOD – Thrustmaster 2 Pedals Standard
Ho3n3r said:.We have discovered that a small percentage of early TRS pedal units sold in Europe and Asia have a design difference. These units had a press-fit spring post rather than a plastic screw-on style spring post. The spring post on this unit requires cutting it shorter to clear the lever plate that is part of this load cell kit. Please look at the pictures below and if your pedals look like the ones shown, most users that have encountered this have cut the post with a Dremel tool or drilled it out completely.
Want to improve your lap times? The T3PA-Pro load cell mod will help you get there by upgrading the brake pedal on your Thrustmaster pedal set from a travel sensitive, potentiometer-based pedal to a force sensitive based load cell pedal. The additional effort required to apply maximum braking force will help you better modulate the braking force. The pedal eases back up rather than snapping back like the original spring, while still releasing braking force to keep you fast on the track.
Click here to read the full white paper. If you are looking for a Thrustmaster T3PA-Pro load cell upgrade kit that has been engineered to replicate the feel and reaction of a real race car brake system, then you have found it.
The LC load cell kit is designed to replicate the pedal travel and resistance of Formula 1, Daytona Prototypes, Formula Fords and spec Miata braking systems to replicate the ultimate in realism. The version 2 kit now includes two different urethane bushings and spacers to permit adjusting the firmness and deadzone feeling of the pedal. When the brake pedal is under mid to full braking load the pedal remains at a steady height to make heel-toe downshifting possible without upsetting the balance of the car.
Don't be fooled! This device makes the pedal feel increasingly firmer the further it is pressed, making harder to move. However, the pedal is still using a potentiometer and is still reading movement rather than force. So while the game is determining braking by how far the pedal has moved, the "conical brake mod" is preventing the pedal from moving creating a dis-proportioned amount of in-game braking relative to the force being applied to the pedal.
A load cell changes everything completely. The load cell replaces the potentiometer and turns the pedal into a purely force-based reading. Therefore, any additional force on the pedal directly translates into a proportional amount of braking applied in the game.
This leads to better control over the brakes resulting in better lap times. The upgrade kit includes all the parts needed to complete the installation, the load cell, electronics, spring and two urethane bumpers for varying pedal firmness, stainless steel shims for adjusting deadzone, mounting bracket, adapter cable, and wire management.Forums New posts Search forums.

You use the clutch to brake? Yes, obviously with the springs exchanged.Season 3 Build. Season 2 Build. Season 1 Build. Season 4 Build. Ultimate Setup Guide. Want to race against fellow redditors each week? Reddit iRacing League Subreddit. I've owned the T3PA pedals for a little over a year now, and when I originally tried them out, they were so much better from the default plastic Thrustmaster pedals that i never bothered with the conical mod.
Recently with the release of the load cell pedals, I've started saving for them, and someone told me i should install the conical mod on my T3PA to get used to higher resistance. I started doing some research about the conical mod, and got mixed reviews, some said it was a great poor mans substitute for load cells, and others hate it. I went and installed it anyways, and want to share my experience, just in case you own these pedal set and are on the fence about adding the mod or not.

If I do it with my hands it feels hard, but when pressed with the foot feels better than I expected. I used the conical mod for about 3 months and it helped improve my consistency a little bit. I bought T3PApro just before quarantine and can't install the mod because of haven't proper tools.

Looking for some advice on pedals, i was recently bought a wheel t as a present, its fantastic however i can not get used to having abs off as i feel the pedal weight is way to light and would like a lot more realistic feel to be able to not use it, my question is has anyone upgraded thier pedals and did it help?
From my own experience, avoid the conical brake mod and save to get a load cell mod. Put "sim racing solutions" into your favourite search engine. It's a night and day difference for the better! The mod is for the pedals. Seeing as you have a thrustmaster t I guess you have the t3pa pedal set. Maybe the ps4 would allow USB connection of fanatec sets. Atm I am struggling to find a local hardware store near me in the UK that sells springs for me to pick up some in person so was hoping someone could point me in the right direction.Remember Me? Results 1 to 3 of 3. I know the mod is designed for the T but i'm wondering what's the different between T and T brake pedal that the bushings shouldn't fit?
I own the RS and the wheel is ok for me but the brake pedal is crap. It's hard to find the right pressure without locking brakes. Ball-Brake-Mod Greatings, Airflight. Last edited by AirFlight; at AirFlight: I tried the bumper brake mod, and it does help.
It's easy and cheap to do, but you don't have to order the "parts" online as suggested in the video. Almost any home improvement store or even Walmart has eveything you need. I used the stock T pedals with the mod for about 3 months and it helped improve brake feel vs trying to use muscle memory to remember how much to depress the brake pedal for a certain amount of braking force.
The conical brake mod that came with the T3PA's really helps with brake pressure feel. Try the cheap bumper brake mod and see if you like it. I've heard of people using a squash ball behind their pedals brake and accelerator but I've never tried it so I can't vouch for how well it works, but it makes sense like the rubber band mod. Do some research before you buy because there are dots on each ball that let you know how hard or soft it is, so you'd need to get one you think will allow for the amount of pressure feel you'd want.
I couldn't find any in the local sports shops so you might have to order them online. That's why I recommend trying the bumper mod first. If you end up trying all of the different mods, the cost for the parts alone could end up coming in close to what I ended up paying for the T3PA's. The following user likes this Post: AirFlight THX for your response. I don't want to buy new stuff atm, i want to improve the pedals and use them till i buy a complete new wheel.
I think the next logical upgrade for me would be the T But i don't want to start any discussion about comparing wheels in here. I think i will go to the hardware store today and check if they have anything that will fit.
